    Hi Ben and Ki,
I’ve been listening for a few months now, and have very much enjoyed listening to the podcasts. Sorry to hear about your recent losses in the family too. You’ve spurred me to read up on Quakers, Puritans, Jericho, the way the Constitution came to be, and other things you’ve talked about. Regarding the Constitution, I was certainly aware that it’s ignored or selectively enforced in modern times, but didn’t realize just how much the same was true even before the ink dried and the paper turned yellow. Guess it shows that people who make up rules can’t be expected to play by them.

You’ve talked about Bastiat and The Law before, which is something anyone with an interest in politics ought to read. I stumbled across a website recently that you might find interesting. http://www.freeaudio.org (they’ve got The Law, some of Frederick Douglas’ writing, and a few others there) You might want to suggest some other works for them to make into audio files, since they’re open to suggestions, and have a pretty slim selection so far.

All the best, and keep up the good work

Is there any way to do a batch download of the archives, such as zip files or what not? My internet far too slow and I’d like to start a download at night and let it run through until the morning.

    • Bad Quaker says:

Sorry Tim, we aren’t set up for that yet. It’s one of the things we would like to do but haven’t got around to doing.

I just had to say I love your podcast. I download it from Itunes every couple days for the past week. I am sorry to hear about the loss of your son-in-law. I was delighted to hear Ki back though.
    best wishes,
    Shane

    Ben,

I’m just getting caught up on my reading, and BQ – Please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of your son-in-law. I feel for Ki – something like this can really kick the legs out from under you. We’ll keep you guys in our prayers, and hope for healing. Look forward to hearing from her again, when she’s ready.

Hi Ben and fellow Liberty lovers,
Somehow found your site…love it. I’m a long time Libertarian, a birth right(from
1800′s) Quaker, a Ron Paul supporter, and friend of the Vermont seccessionist movement. I could go on, but I’ll stop with, I think your podcast/youtube Anarchy and the Word of Tomorrow is brilliant. Right now I’m #10 listener to pc107 Virtual Private Networks. Who are you, where are you…if you can share that. Also would love the identity of the gentlemen on the top of your badquaker site, besides Thoreau and you. In Liberty, Rebecca Hougher

    • Bad Quaker says:

Thanks for the comments Rebecca, and to everyone else commenting.

Would like to hear more about (Bad)Quaker faith and theology. Also about the Right to self defense, firearms, etc. when it comes to some gov’t thug claiming to have authority to confiscate property. I.e. food, precious metals, firearms, etc. I have recently become aware that the title (Bad)Quaker applies to me more than “Christian”. Like you I ahear to the NAP, but am not a pacifist. Thanks.

  7. Randy Jones says:

    Hi Ben…Hi Ki,
I’m not religious (anymore) but I sure enjoy how you tie natural law and original sin into the history of our species. This is so important for me because it is the foundation and building blocks for my belief and adherence to the libertarian philosopy. What’s that saying about the truth setting you free…keep up the great work!

  8. Bryan King says:

    Hi,

I was listening to a podcast on Friday 2/10/12 where the hosts discussed false advertising as part of the discussion. They specifically brought up the extreme stunts Toyota did and more generally the clips of various loads being dropped into the beds of trucks and made the claim that all this was false advertising.

I remember reading an article in Machine Design magazine about the Toyota ads. Those stunts were in fact done and were quite real. Each example was designed to be over the top without exaggerating the performance of the vehicle. Regarding the various loads of dirt or lumber being dropped into the beds of trucks, that is also a real drop. It’s just dropped from a low height – just out of frame. The trucks are capable of taking those loads. One probably would not want to do that all day every day, but it’s not a lie.

Just to say it, I’m not affiliated with these companies in any way. I’m a mechanical engineer by degree and in practice. I only want to point out that these ads are examples of truth in advertising. I enjoyed the podcast otherwise.
    Best Regards,
    Bryan King

I noticed your podcast feed doesn’t go all the way back to the beginning. Would you put up an archive feed with the older episodes of the show? That might be too much trouble, I don’t know how these things work. Either way, thank you for taking time to make such a well thought out show.

  10. John Q Public says:

I found you by googling the words “people who drop out of mainstream…….”
Which brought me to Sunni and the Conspirators and then YOU.

Just wanted to say that I am sure there must be times that you wonder if your efforts are having an impact that justifies your certainly great effort……. just wanted to say that I will be back and will not hesitate to donate to you. I will share your site with my friends. Thank you very much!

  11. Aloha Ben,
I am trying to start up a podcast here on the Big Island, and I have listened to enough of your material to know that you are interested in ethics, voluntary cooperation and even preparedness. Love your podcast, and I was wondering if you would consent to a Skype interview in the near future? Brevity in interview length is fine with me, if need be.

Hamakua Talk Podcast features myself, interests include ethics, practical realities of voluntaryism, natural law, problems with defining words like “capitalism, socialism, the common good, democracy, socialism, communism, individualism, collectivism, belief, etc.” I have 14 years training in holistic health care including oriental medicine, acupuncture (getting my “license” from the “state” next year), applied and clinical kinesiology from the chiropractic tradition, world herbalism and many other modalities of diagnostic and treatment.

Hamakua Talk Podcast also features my friend and Kung Fu training partner Don, who has interest in Anarcho-Socialism, and has studied many subjects, including the works of Thom Hartmann.

We have much in common, and with the use of Non Violent Communication, we can come to common ground surprisingly often.

Please write me concerning a brief or lengthy interview, or please consult with me if you would care for a complementary holistic health opinion on sources of options and verification methods.
    With great respect,
    Darrell

    • Bad Quaker says:

      Darrell,
That sounds great. I would love to do an interview with you.
Give me a few days to get back to you. We are on the road right now so in a few days we should be stable enough to do something.
      Ben

  12. Kelly Norman says:

Absolutely love your podcast! I read a lot of libertarian stuff, but now I’m wondering if I’m more of an anarchocapitalist? Is it contagious? ;-)

  13. Mike says:

Just wanted to tell you that your podcasts are some of the best that I have heard. All of your content is fantastic. Even your banner is clever. Keep up the good work.

  14. Mario Butter says:

Have you considered having your blog feed published via Amazon for Kindle readers as well as via iTunes?

    • Ben says:

      Thanks for the suggestion Mario!
We were talking about this last month and then we all got busy and forgot about it. Thanks for bringing it up. I’ll remind Cindy and Ki and see if we can’t make this happen.
      Ben

  15. Berserker Prime says:

    Ben,

Who do you think is more inclined to “convert” to a Libertarian mindset, Conservatives or Liberals?

I’m betting conservatives are more inclined to change directions than liberals do to how many folks I’ve met like me wo finally ran out of steam carrying Republican water only to find out that they are the same as Dems.

    • Ben says:

In the current political climate conservatives seem to be more open to libertarian ideas. I think that’s because from about mid-90′s through the Baby Bush years the mainstream Republicans let the conservatives down so bad.
However, I think if Obama gets re-elected and has a chance to burn his liberal base bad enough this could switch and liberals could begin to look for some way out of their rut.

  16. BP says:

You asked that folks let you know when we are downloading shows off of Itunes. I’ve downloaded them all. They kick ass! Now if I can get you to talk for at least 1hr at a time (the average drive between camps) that would be perfect! Love all your shows and really enjoyed quakers and roundheads.

    BP

  17. Ben says:

    Thanks Swanson, Thanks BP.

  18. Berserker Prime says:

    Ben,

These last 2 weeks, I’ve put on a lot of miles at work. This is the first opportunity I’ve had to listen to your work. It was an absolute pleasure and thoroughly enjoyable! The episode addressing inellectual property rights was a real eye opener for me, thank you. For years I marched to the “Republican” drum and drank the coolaid, but over the last 2 years, my beliefs have readically changed, though I’m still feeling my way along. Please keep up the great work you are doing as I look forward to new episodes!
